Once found out that certain clay mineral can bind aflatoxins, there was lot of research on various clay minerals and other compounds on a variety of toxins and on different animals. Also the limitations of mycotoxin binding too found a place in these scientific studies. During these very studies it was conclusively found out that the clay minerals and binding effect is not enough for secure and comprehensive mycotoxin management.
The international team of experts worked on PHORA concept with emphasis on binding & inactivation of mycotoxins. Phora contains activated aliminosilicates and bentonite which have high binding capacity of polar mycotoxins such as aflatoxin 80-85%. The mineral compound selected from different sources of clays. The clays are a blend of Bentonite/Montmorillonite and HSCAS. For adsorption of clay has a special pore size as 75 micron and pore sizes are homogeneous in the combination. The CEC is min 75 meq per 100gr.Toxin | Control | Quantity of toxin Adsorb | % of Adsorption |
